- People up here do not like it to be called "Frisco." Call it "The city" or "San Francisco."
- I wrestle with the idea behind the Southpark episode of the "San Francisco Smug." I want to agree with it, but some parts still remain offensive... in a funny way (like any Southpark episode, really).
- Might as well talk to the homeless people up here, but just keep walking.
- Have the correct amount of your bus/muni money designated to one pocket so you don't get harassed by people begging for money or asking you to hurry up while pulling out your money.
- SF State "people" have been taught to call their spouses, boyfriends or girlfriends "partner" in respect/caution to students who might be offended, regardless of your sexuality. That got a little getting used to.
- You actually see the same amount of hybrid cars in San Francisco as you see Vespas and smart cars.
- The saying "That's gay" as a synonymous expression of "that's stupid" isn't taken as offensively as many people would expect it to. You just look like an out-of-townie idiot.
- Most protests are peaceful. Some people join them to be a part of the party.
- People in SF LOVE making an excuse to wear a costume!
- The sisters of perpetual indulgence is a community-serving official organization, they are not just men who dress like nuns.
- A lot of pigeons in SF have missing feet or toes.
- It's nearly impossible to step on a pigeon, regardless of their missing parts. I've tried on several occasions.
- Always pack extra socks and a scarf.
- Diet= if I'm not willing to carry the extra weight from Safeway to the train and the walk home in the rain, I'm not buying it!
- If you're lost in the city, a friend's bathroom is just a friend's phone call away.
- Everyone lets you pet their dog.
- Folding the top corner of your dollar makes it a sure-fire way for the machine on the bus or train to take the bill the first time.

Life in San Francisco: The things I've learned
Living up here in San Francisco has taught me a few things - some life lessons, and others that are just ... different than home down south. These come in no particular order of importance, but the list (I'm sure) will be added to.
